Single-particle cryo-EM of amyloid fibrils

The infectious prion particles are helical amyloid fibrils, segments of which can be extracted from cryo-micrographs and analysed as pseudo-single particles in order to generate near-atomic resolution helical 3D reconstructions. We developed a fast and reliable cryo-EM pipeline for atomic structure determination of authentic, highly infectious ex vivo prion fibrils.
