Reconnecting with Kazu before his tenure in Japan
Kazu and I in Ognisko Polskie - The Polish Hearth
It was great to catch up with Kazuhiro Yamamoto from the University of Liverpool.
We shared wonderful years at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, then part of Imperial College London, now part of the University of Oxford. At the time, I was a PhD student, and Kazu was a postdoc in Hideaki Nagase's Matrix Biology Department. Kazu stayed in the matrix, while I ventured inside the cell before circling back to the cell surface, but I've never lost my fascination with the matrix!
Kazu's next chapter takes him to Tokyo as an associate professor, coinciding with my own move back to Imperial.
As a leaving gift, I received a beautiful album of printed photos from our time at the Kennedy and beyond—a truly special gesture.
Thank you, Kazu, and heartfelt congratulations! I'm looking forward to future collaborations. See you in Japan!
